During My ENC 1101 class at the University of Central Florida I learned an immense amount about my writing process. I wrote journal entries about research articles from experts and students who have studied the process of writing and how it can be improved. Different articles changed my perspective on writing and elaborated how the student may be able to teach themselves more by studying their own work in a systematic way. Also how teachers and professors can learn how to better teach their students from their results of theses studies. I wrote journal entries weekly summarizing and analyzing different writers. Here, in my portfolio I have some of my journal articles and a few of the papers I wrote during my class. I have the rough drafts as well as the final revised versions. One of those final papers in particular I compare and contrast to the rough draft i wrote. I also explain how I was able to improve my writing process and learn about myself. In class we did peer reviews of each others papers. I explain how this helped me and have some examples of letters I received from other students to look at. Lastly, I reflect on how I have improved and everything I've learned throughout the course to become a better writer and acheive my personal goals.
Over the course of the semester I realized that this class had many similarities with a goal i was trying to achieve on my own outside of school. That goal was to dunk a basketball. If you don't know what that is I'll give you a brief description. It is a way of scoring in basketball in which the players jumps off the ground with the ball and slam the ball downward through the hoop. Anyway I've been playing basketball my whole life and always wanted to dunk and finally decided to get serious about my training. The main thing i had to train was my vertical jump because I knew how to dunk i just couldn't jump high enough to slam it down. Given a regulation basketball hoop is 10 feet off the ground and I stand about 5 ft 10 inches tall. So in the different pages of this website I will explain the different aspects of my training and how they relate to my learning process in my English class. Enjoy!
