In the first essay, I did a rhetorical analysis on a campaign advertisement. I explained how the creators of the video focused on their audience to try to get the most voters to vote for their candidate. I described the different rhetorical aspects such as the language used, the video clips used, and the visual effects. All these features of the video play a part in persuading the viewer to vote for their candidate but in my case, they were trying to persuade the viewer not to vote for the candidate in the video. This is my final draft and with the peer review letters, I fixed this essay by making my ideas more organized and structuring in the specific form. In my rough draft I didn't establish my personal view enough and i fixed that in my revision.
The second essay I did a week long study on myself. In my revision compared to my rough draft I explained my method compared to the experts approach and why I used my method. In my rough draft I described the other person's method but I had to revise my essay and go more in depth as to why I changed my approach. With this revision I now discussed how my method has credibility because it is similar to an expert's method, but now also covered why method brought me to results that were more beneficial to me. The third essay is about the discourse community of the basketball courts at UCF. The rough draft of this essay needed to have the "so what?" to complete my thoughts. In my final draft once I defined the courts as a discourse community, I explained how a newcomer to this community could find this research helpful. Also why someone would want to know this information. This gave my research a reason to be conducted and thus answered that question. |
These final drafts after being revised can be thought of as achieving the desired goal. They started with some ideas and research, creating rough drafts, having peers review my drafts, and finally editing and critiquing all aspects together to create the final product. As in my dunking training, I put in weeks of hard work, lifting weights, using criticism, improving technique, and learning from mistakes to finally reach my goal and Dunk!
Here is a video of my very first dunk! And as you can see I was very close with failed attempts and had to have everything perfect, (jumping, timing, speed etc.) to have a successful Dunk. All my failed trys I used to see what I needed to do differently. |
